Is your website ready for an update? Here’s 8 indicators that it is…
Your website really is one of the most important elements of your online business. It's the place that people go to learn more about you, the services you offer, and if your business is a good fit for them. I would argue that it's the most impactful part of your online business because It's also the one place that can help you automate almost every part of your business, grow your email list with warm leads, and make you sales while you sleep.
The truth is that if you have just been getting by with an outdated website that is not aligned to your true business vision or brand (meaning it doesn't light you up)... then chances are, you are losing clients to your competitors.
You know what I mean because you do this too... You get online and search for that service or thing you're looking for... you find a website... click on it... and almost instantly know if you want to keep looking into that business or hit that little back button to find another option.
How the site looks... how it works... how easy it is to find what you're looking for... all of it matters big time.
So then, maybe it's time for a website redesign. I know it can be a scary jump.
Here are 8 things you need to look at to determine if it's time for you to have your site redesigned. If you see yourself in just one of these 8 things, then it may be time to start thinking about a new website.
1. It's not mobile responsive.
At least half of the world views the internet on their phones or tablets now. That being said, if a potential client finds your site and constantly has to zoom in to read text or try 500 times to click a tinnnny little link, they are going to be frustrated. And the last thing you want is a potential client who's frustrated before you even get on the phone with them
2. Your business has changed directions.
If you've shifted your focus or what you do... then your website definitely needs a revamp. Having a website that reflects what you do is obviously a major necessity!
3. Your target market has shifted.
If you have decided to shift your niche or who you want to work with, then your website (and probably brand too!) should change as well. The colors, fonts, graphics, and layout of your website all will be influenced by who you are targeting!
4. Elements aren't working.
If you have a hard time navigating your own website, have potential clients (or supportive family/friends) who complain about your site, OR if you notice that links, drop-downs, or other features of your site aren't working... then it's time for a website redesign! Staying up to date with the latest technology AND being easy to navigate is a must to keep those viewers engaged and turning them into sales.
5. It looks outdated.
If your site just looks outdated... the colors aren't exciting, the fonts remind you of an old fad, or any other elements look like they have crawled out of the late 90's (or let's be real... the mid 2010's is outdated now) ... then it's definitely time for a redesign.
6. You don't have systems, automations, or integrations needed to run your business more efficiently.
Maybe you don't have the budget to outsource yet, but with a little know-how, your website can become a really helpful addition to your business. It can be a place to book those clients, take payments, sell your stuff, and add warm leads to your email list while you sleep.
7. People can't find you online.
If you've checked your analytics lately and you're not getting viewers from search engines... then maybe it's time for a website redesign (or at least some SEO optimization). If you have people who are searching for you online and can't find your site... then it's for sure time for a redesign.
8. Other websites make you jealous.
If you simple look at your website and feel unexcited, underwhelmed, and a bit jealous because your competition is killing it online with their website... then it's time for a redesign. Your website is your online home. It would be totally depressing to live every single day in a home where you absolutely hated the decor, colors, and furniture. And the same is true for your website.
There you have it! If you raised your hand to any one of these things, then it's time for a redesign. If you could relate to more than one... then it's time to get on that redesign pronto!
So, what are your next steps?
First, you have to determine if you’re at a place in your business where you should hire someone to do it for you or if you should do it yourself.
In order to do this, you can ask yourself the following questions…
Do you have a steady stream of clients booking with you?
Are you making a consistent income in your business?
Are you solid in the direction of your business, your packages, programs, and your vision for the future?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you should look into hiring someone to handle your redesign for you. You need to spend your time focusing on the clients you have and closing more sales! Let a pro handle your website. (Hint: find someone who specializes in performance strategy and can help you increase conversions … you don’t want a designer who will just make your site look better - you want real results! If this sounds great then take a moment to check out my done for you website packages here.)
If you weren’t able to answer ‘yes’ to any of the above questions, then I would recommend handling your website redesign yourself.
But here’s the thing… Doing your website yourself shouldn’t be overwhelming! I have created a program specifically for service-based entrepreneurs who are wanting to DIY their website to grow their list and win more clients. Find out more about this program and how it can help you.
