How to duplicate a page or post in Squarespace
I love Squarespace because it makes building and maintaining your website SO easy. One thing that adds to the ease of use is the ability to quickly duplicate/copy an entire page and/or blog post in Squarespace 7.0 and 7.1. In this post, I’m going to show you how.
What’s the advantage of duplicating pages and posts?
Well, there are actually quite a few reasons you would want to duplicate a page and a blog post…
1. So you can quickly test something new
Sometimes, we have a page that’s looking pretty darn good, but we want to change it up to give it a facelift. But I know it can be difficult to want to totally scrap and revamp a page you’ve spent hours on… the good news is that when you duplicate the page, you can test out your new ideas without losing your previous work.
2. So you can keep it all consistent
We know that amazing websites are consistent throughout the entire site. They use the same fonts, colors, layouts, and graphics. This means that each page should have a lot of similarities between them.
To help keep it all consistent, you can simply duplicate an already created page that you’ve perfected, and swap out images and content… and BAM, you’ll have a page that is consistent with the previous one. Super simple!
3. So you never have to worry about messing up a completed page
When you have a page that you’ve just completed and spent hourrrs perfecting on your website, you don’t want anything to happen to it, right? Well, when it comes time to make tweaks and edits to this page, you can duplicate the page so you always have a copy of the original… just in case. Pretty cool, huh?
4. To speed up the page creation process
Being able to simply duplicate a page/post and swap out content can make your website bulding process SO fast. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve duplicated landing pages, thank you pages, or just regular pages on my site to QUICKLY re-use the layout and design that I’ve already developed. By duplicating a page, you can keep the aesthetics and build that new page FAST.
